Please note that there are no activity fees associated with any interscholastic or intrascholastic athletic team or program within Charlotte County Public Schools. Due to the passage of the Referendum, funding exists to cover the vast majority of athletic expenses that student-athletes and their parents/guardians/caregivers would encounter, such as transportation costs and athletic trainer supplies. Other costs such as facility maintenance, athletic trainer salaries, and coaching supplements are funded out of the district’s general fund. It is important to note that non-traditional private school students and PEP/FES students (receiving state tax-funded scholarships) will be charged an activity fee of $400 per athletic activity. Occasions may arise when parents are asked to help fundraise and financially contribute to athletic teams’ needs. Typical requests for financial assistance from parents help cover expenses such as: athletes’ footwear and specific optional clothing, like a sweatshirt or pullover. The financial requests are limited in scope and overall cost. Coaches and Athletic Directors communicate with students and parents to make sure that any student-athlete who can’t afford to pay for any requested expense is covered by the school with fundraised dollars or through Booster Club Contributions. In no circumstances would a financial request prohibit a student’s participation.
