    Advanced Placement Program

The Advanced Placement Program (AP) is designed for students who are preparing for college. The AP Program offers enrolled students a national curriculum that is rigorous and challenging. The focus of the program is to provide students with college level curriculum and provide them with the tools they need to be successful students. Charlotte High School offers a wide variety of AP courses. The program is not for the faint of heart. It is a national program designed to prepare students for college and to earn college credit or placement while in high school.

Admission and Course Credit

Admission to the AP programs is selective and is based on evaluation of the student's overall school performance.


Advanced Placement courses provide a curriculum which culminates in a national examination in May. Students earning acceptable scores on the AP exam earn college credit as determined by their respective colleges or university. Students enrolled in the Advanced Placement Program may take a combination of Dual Enrollment and Advanced Placement courses.

AP Student Expectations

Meet academic expectations for College Prep Programs.
Once enrolled in an AP class, students are required to complete the course.
Students who are enrolled in an AP class are required to take the AP exam. The exam is administered in the spring. Cost for the exam is paid by the District.
Students must complete teacher requested summer assignment.
